Salary: Based on NADACA Wage Scale and Qualifications

Under the primary direction of and reporting to the Executive Director of NADACA and Office Services Manager of Mi`kmaw Lodge, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the following: maintaining staff files, drafting correspondence, maintaining treatment files; handling incoming and outgoing mail, and preparing reports, purchase orders and attendance reports.  Will participate in all offered training and educational improvement courses; acquire and maintain all credentials associated to these duties.  Working with the Executive Director and Treatment leads to take care of the operations and maintenance of both facilities.  Will support all required janitorial services and routine maintenance.  Will be responsible for orientation of said staff to all maintenance and safety procedures of the position and any equipment used.

Minimum Qualifications:

Stated below are the minimum entrance qualifications for the position. Employees selected at this level will be required to that apart in related training courses

  • Must have completed Grade 12 or G.E.D. equivalent, and secretarial diploma.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must have the ability to provide and relate basic information to clients and public, in person and on the telephone.
  • Must possess a basic knowledge of office practice, procedures, machines and equipment.
  • Must have strong computer skill.s
  • Must have basic knowledge of filing system.
  • Must have ability to construct business letters and receive and answer e-mail inquiries.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, and ensure security of all information.
  • Must have a strong desire to work in the addictions field.
  • Must show evidence of actively practicing or maintaining a sober lifestyle.
  • Must be willing to take relevant training and participate in ongoing training programs.
  • Must have knowledge of operations and maintenance of specialized residential buildings.
  • Procurement of business contracts.
  • Experience with Occupational Health and Safety and working with a committee and Emergency Measures protocol team.

 The selection committee may exercise discretionary judgement in waiving academic   requirements in lieu of combined experience and training relating to the position Preference will be given to those with a university degree, diploma or equivalent with related work experience.
