Treatment Philosophy

Our treatment philosophy is based on the fact that the treatment setting and the treatment methods must relate the special needs of the native client. The special heritage, social and cultural background, and the personal hopes and ambitions of the client form the basis for the design of treatment programs at Miíkmaw Lodge Treatment Center and Eagleís Nest Recovery House. Because alcohol and drug addiction can have far reaching implications, we design our treatment programs to meet a broad range of concerns. Miíkmaw Lodge is committed to helping the client to achieve an orderly and goal directed pattern of living in a substance and chemical free lifestyle. Very often, our 35day treatment program is all the client will need to find the right road. Sometimes, though, it is necessary to look at longer term programs or relapse therapy for the chronic abuser. If we feel that a longer term program would benefit the client, we would refer that client to Eagleís Nest Recovery House.

Programming

In addition to our regular ongoing 35-day treatment cycles for substance sbuse, we offer the following specialized programs:

  • Two 35-day native women treatment programs.
  • Two 35-day residential school survivor programs.
  • Two 1 to 2-week adolescent treatment programs.
  • One 2-week treatment cycle for boys age 12 to 18 years.
  • Four Co-ed treatment cycles for the adults.
  • Two weekend retreats, one for men and one for women.
  • Two 3-week relapse programs.
